Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet and Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre have jointly announced the arrest of Bronson Joseph Billiot, 52, of Galliano, in connection with an ongoing multi-agency investigation into child sex crimes. Billiot was recently arrested in Lafourche Parish on multiple charges and is awaiting transfer to Terrebonne Parish to face additional charges.
On Friday, August 15, Detectives with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) Special Victims Unit (SVU) learned of Billiot’s arrest through an investigation by the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office Bureau of Investigation. TPSO SVU Detectives had already been investigating a series of child sex abuse incidents in Terrebonne Parish, where Billiot was identified as a suspect. During the investigation, an additional victim came forward with allegations of abuse in Lafourche Parish, prompting close coordination between TPSO, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office (LPSO), and the Attorney General’s Office.
Terrebonne Detectives interviewed the initial victim, who reported several years of abuse beginning when they were 15 years old. The victim stated that Billiot repeatedly engaged in sexual acts and provided “gifts” in exchange for sexual activity. Detectives were able to substantiate these claims with evidence. As a result, an arrest warrant was secured for Billiot on charges of Oral Sexual Battery and Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile, with bond set at $400,000.
In Lafourche Parish, Detectives received investigative information on another victim, who disclosed years of abuse which stopped at just 7 years old. Lafourche Detectives executed a search warrant at Billiot’s home in Galliano, where they seized a significant amount of evidence related to child sex crimes. Billiot is currently incarcerated in Lafourche Parish on four counts of Pornography Involving Juveniles, with bond set at $450,000, stemming from the Louisiana Attorney General’s investigation. Billiot will also be charged in Lafourche Parish on crimes connected to a separate victim. More information will be released as it becomes available.
Both Sheriff Soignet and Sheriff Webre have expressed concerns that additional victims are likely and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Victims are asked to contact
TPSO SVU Detectives at (985) 876-2500. Both Sheriffs have confirmed that this remains an ongoing investigation, and additional charges against Billiot are highly likely.
Sheriff Soignet stated: “Our Detectives are working tirelessly to bring this disturbing case to a resolution. We are grateful for our strong partnerships with local and state law enforcement, which highlight the importance of a unified approach to public safety. As always, I ask the public to respect the privacy of the victims and their families as we continue this very sensitive investigation.”
