Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet has confirmed the arrest of a Gray man in connection with a traffic-related incident that claimed the life of a Lockport man. Jamie L. Wallace Sr., 42, was taken into custody on charges of Hit and Run Driving Resulting in Death and Second-Degree Murder.
On Friday, shortly before 1:00pm, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a parking lot near the intersection of Martin Luther King Blvd. and LA 24 Main Street, regarding a pedestrian-related vehicle crash.  Deputies located a seriously injured male victim, who was transported to a local hospital and was later pronounced deceased.
Through investigation, Deputies and Detectives gathered information regarding a suspect vehicle and began a search of the area. Surveillance footage of the crash scene indicated that the victim may have been intentionally targeted by the driver.
Shortly thereafter, Deputies located the suspect vehicle and driver at a nearby business. The driver was identified as Jamie L. Wallace Sr., who was immediately taken into custody. Detectives conducted an interview with Wallace but were unable to determine a motive for the incident. Wallace was arrested and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, where he remains jailed without bond, by local judges.
Sheriff Soignet stated that the investigation is still in its early stages and that additional information will be released as it becomes available. The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time for investigatory reasons.
