Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Houma woman on charges, stemming from a disturbance investigated by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division. Taylor Sinclair Gibson, 27, was arrested on charges for her involvement in the investigation.
On Sunday, August 17th, shortly before 7:00 pm, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division learned of a disturbance involving a gun, which occurred at the Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter. Authorities quickly responded and made contact with victims and witnesses at the business, who provided information that a female became irate after learning of a medical issue her animal suffered. Staff provided information that the female suspect aggressively removed a clipboard from a staff members hand, before being told to leave the business. As the suspect was leaving, she exposed a firearm being carried in her waistband to staff, which was taken as a direct threat.
Through further investigation, Deputies located the female suspect in the parking lot, who was later identified as Taylor Sinclair Gibson. Deputies questioned Gibson, who admitted that she entered the business, admitted to forcefully taking the clipboard from a staff members hand, admitted to entering the business with a firearm in her waistband, but denied threatening, or showing staff the firearm. Deputies confirmed through investigation that the business was declared a Firearm Free Zone.
Deputies arrested Taylor Sinclair Gibson on charges of Firearm Free Zone, and Negligent Carrying of a Concealed Firearm, in connection with the disturbance. Gibson was later released on a $1,000.00 Bond by local judges
Sheriff Tim Soignet would like to commend the quick response of the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, which directly affected the apprehension of this offender. Sheriff Soignet said, “Our Deputies do an incredible job when dealing with the dangers of their day-to-day encounters. I can’t say enough about how amazing our men and women are, and the level of safety they provide for our community.”
