NEWS RELEASE

January 20, 2026

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Houma man in connection with a Domestic Violence investigation conducted by the Patrol Division. Dwayane A. Dupuy, 45, was taken into custody on multiple charges related to the case.

On January 18, 2026, Deputies responded to a residence in the 1800 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard, after reports that a male suspect entered a home and committed a battery upon a female victim.  Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with a female victim, who showed clear and obvious signs of an injury to her face and mouth.  The victim provided Deputies with specific details related to the physical confrontation and confirmed the identity of the suspect as Dwayane A. Dupuy.

During the course of the investigation, Deputies learned from the victim that an active protective order was in place for Dwayane Dupuy, prohibiting him from being in contact with her.

Deputies later located Dupuy at his home, where he was taken into custody in connection with the investigation.  Deputies arrested Dwayane A. Dupuy on charges of Domestic Abuse Battery, and Violation of a Protective Order.   Dwayane Dupuy was later released after posting a $10,000 bond, set by local judges.

“As always, we ask for patience and privacy for the victims and families, as well as all involved in this investigation” Sheriff Tim Soignet said.  “Our Patrol Division did an incredible job investigating this troubling case, and we are grateful that we were able to help create a level of safety for the victim. I am confident that our Deputies will continue to do what is necessary to ensure that victims of Domestic Violence are brought to justice.”

ALL ARRESTED PERSONS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.
