UPDATE: Friday Night Shooting in Gibson

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet confirmed that a Friday night shooting, that occurred in the 4000 block of Southdown Mandalay Road in Houma, has now claimed to the life of two male subjects.

On Friday, August 28, 2026, shortly before 11:00pm, Terrebonne Parish Patrol Deputies responded to multiple calls of a shooting incident, in the 4000 block of Southdown Mandalay Road.  As Deputies responded, additional calls were received which indicated that at least one male was shot and laying in the driveway of a residence.  When Deputies arrived, they quickly encountered two people in the driveway of a home who were immediately detained.  Deputies also located two male subjects near the driveway of the home, who both appeared to suffer from multiple gunshot wounds.  Deputies confirmed that one of the male subjects died on scene as a result of the injuries, while the additional male subject was transported to a local hospital by medical first responders.

As the investigation continued, Terrebonne Parish Violent Crimes Detectives responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.  As Authorities compiled evidence connected to the incident, Detectives confirmed the identity of the deceased male as Ferron Michael Ruffin Sr, 49, of Gibson, as well as the additional male subject as Christopher Michael Prince Sr, 48, of Gibson. 

Further investigation revealed that both Ruffin and Prince were involved in an ongoing disturbance, which led to both males exchanging gun fire at the scene.  Detectives reviewed evidence at the scene, which appeared to be consistent with the investigative information.  While Authorities were investigating the incident, they learned that Christopher Michael Prince Sr was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. 

This investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
