Eastside Houma Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

NEWS RELEASE

September 5, 2025

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Gray woman, in connection with a traffic stop investigation.  Violet Theresa Parfait, 46, was arrested for narcotics, outstanding warrants, and traffic related offenses, in connection with the incident.

On September 4th, shortly after 8:00pm, Deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office were conducting proactive patrols in an eastside Houma neighborhood, when they observed a vehicle in violation of a traffic related offense, which led to a stop.  Deputies came into contact with the driver, who provided an identity which was determined to be false information.

Through further investigation, Deputies completed a search of the vehicle, which led to the discovery of illegal narcotics, as well as drug paraphernalia.  Deputies were also able to locate items within the vehicle which assisted in identifying the driver as Violet Theresa Parfait.  After proper identification was made, Deputies learned that Parfait had an outstanding warrant for her arrest, and well as driving with a suspended license.

Deputies took Parfait into custody without incident, and she was later transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, and booked on charges of Driving under suspension, Resisting an officer by false information, Possession of CDS I (Heroin), Possession of CDS II (Methamphetamine), Possession of drug paraphernalia, Failure to Appear (warrant), and traffic related offense.  Parfait remains jailed on a $15,000 bond by local judges.

Sheriff Tim Soignet would like to commend the efforts of the Deputies in this case.  Sheriff Soignet said, “This incident is another example of how proactive Law Enforcement tactics can have a positive impact in our community.  I am proud to work with such a tremendous group of motivated men and women, who dedicate their lives to making our community a safer place.”
