Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Chauvin man, in connection with an investigation being conducted by Special Victim’s Unit (SVU) Detectives of the Sheriff’s Office. James Paul Naquin, 34, was arrested for Molestation of a Juvenile under 13 years of age and First-Degree Rape, in connection with the investigation.
The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit conducted an extensive investigation into allegations of sexually motivated crimes against a victim under the age of 6 years old, that occurred on several occasions. Through the investigation, Detectives were presented with evidence from the victim, to suggest that Naquin was responsible for the abuse of the victim.
During the course of the investigation, SVU Detectives were able to substantiate the evidence, which led to an arrest warrant being completed for James Paul Naquin, who was later located at a residence in the 6000 block of Hwy 56 and taken into custody. Detectives interviewed Naquin, who confirmed the allegations and admitted to the abuse. Naquin was arrested and jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on a $1,000,000.00 bond by local judges.
This remains an ongoing investigation, and additional charges are not known currently.
Sheriff Soignet said, “Our Detectives are working closely with the victim and family to bring a resolution to this unfortunate investigation. As always, we ask for patience and privacy for the victim and those affected by this investigation. Our Detectives will continue to do what is necessary to bring dangerous perpetrators to justice.”
