Bourg woman arrested in child abuse investigation

November 6, 2023

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Bourg woman during a juvenile investigation that was reported from a local Terrebonne based school. Jena Nicole Domangue, 29, was arrested in connection with the investigation, for charges of Second-Degree Cruelty to a Juvenile.

On November 2nd, shortly after 2:00pm, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to a local Terrebonne based school, after reports surfaced of an incident involving a 6-year-old student. TPSO Deputies learned from staff of the school that the student showed up to school with visible facial injuries and identified the perpetrator responsible as Jena Domangue. The allegations led to the Special Victim’s Unit of the Sheriff’s Office being called in to investigate the incident.

During the course of the investigation, Detectives received conflicting accounts of how the injuries were sustained, but later discovered additional information which led to the development of Domangue as a suspect. Detectives also located vital evidence in the investigation which confirmed the allegations. Domangue was brought in for questioning, where she admitted to being responsible for the injuries to the child. Domangue was later booked and jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on charges of Second-Degree Cruelty to a Juvenile and was later released on a $500 bond by local judges.

The victim is recovering from moderate injuries sustained during the attack.

This incident remains an ongoing investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Sheriff Tim Soignet said, “As always, we ask for patience and privacy for the victim and family, as well as all involved in this investigation. Our Patrol Division and Detectives did an incredible job investigating the matter, and we are grateful that staff of the school properly reported the incident. These types of cases are always unfortunate, but I’m thankful that a quick resolution was made in this case.”
