Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Houma couple, in connection with a traffic stop investigation, conducted by the TPSO Criminal Patrol Division. Gene Louis Thibodaux, 59, and Skye M. Cunningham, 45, were arrested for multiple narcotics offenses related to the investigation.

On Sunday, February 8th, Deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Patrol Division observed a vehicle travelling in the area New Orleans Blvd, in violation of a traffic offense.  As Deputies used lights and sirens, the driver and occupant became apprehensive to pull to the side of the roadway, which raised officer suspicion.  When the vehicle came to a stop, Deputies contacted the driver who was identified as Gene Louis Thibodaux, of Houma.  During the initial investigation, Deputies noted indicators of illegal narcotics activity, which led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia on Thibodaux’s person.

A subsequent search of the vehicle by Deputies led to the discovery of 9 individual bags of Methamphetamine, totaling over 40 grams.

Gene Louis Thibodaux was arrested on charges of Possession with the intent to distribute CDS II, Transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, Possession of drug paraphernalia, Driving under Suspension, and a traffic related violation.  Thibodaux remains in custody at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, on a $30,000.00 bond by local judges.

Through further investigation, Deputies identified a passenger in the vehicle as Skye M. Cunningham, who was determined to have outstanding narcotics related warrants.  Cunningham was transported and jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on charges of Failure to Appear and Parole Violation.

Sheriff Tim Soignet would like to commend the efforts of the TPSO Criminal Patrol Division, for their work in this investigation.  Sheriff Soignet said, “This incident is another example of how proactive Law Enforcement investigations can have a positive impact in our community.  I am proud to work with such a tremendous group of motivated men and women, who dedicate their lives to making Terrebonne Parish a safer place.”
