Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Thibodaux woman and a Morgan City man in connection with a traffic stop investigation that led to the discovery of narcotics and drug paraphernalia, while a minor child was present in the vehicle. Iniquaite J. Walker, 32, and Timothy J. Marcel, 56, were both arrested on multiple narcotics-related charges following the incident.
On Monday, shortly before 11:00 p.m., a Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputy was dispatched to a residence in Gibson in response to a disturbance complaint. During the investigation, Deputies identified Walker as a suspect and obtained a description of the vehicle associated with her, which was provided to Deputies in the area. A short time later, an alert Deputy located a vehicle matching the description near Vega Court and conducted a traffic stop. Upon contact, Deputies identified the driver as Iniquaite J. Walker, a front seat passenger as Timothy J. Marcel, and a minor child in the backseat of the vehicle.
During the investigation, Deputies observed indicators of possible drug activity, which led to a search of Marcel’s person and the vehicle. The search resulted in the recovery of methamphetamines and multiple items of drug paraphernalia located both inside and outside of the vehicle. Further investigation revealed the minor child was sleeping unrestrained in the backseat in close proximity to additional drug paraphernalia. Deputies also confirmed Walker was operating the vehicle with an expired driver’s license and that the vehicle displayed a switched license plate.
Iniquaite J. Walker was arrested on charges of Illegal Use of a CDS in the Presence of a Person Under 17 years old, Possession of CDS II, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Obstruction of Justice/Evidence Tampering, Switched License Plate, Expired Driver’s License, and Child Restraint System. Walker remains jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, on a $50,000.00 bond by local judges.
Timothy Joseph Marcel was arrested on charges of Illegal Use of a CDS in the Presence of a Person Under 17 years old, Possession of CDS II, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Obstruction of Justice/Evidence Tapering, and an outstanding warrant for a narcotics related offense. Marcel remains jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, on a $60,000.00 bond by local judges.
“Situations like this highlight the importance of proactive policing and the role it plays in protecting not only our communities, but our most vulnerable—our children”, said Sheriff Soignet. “The actions of our Deputies in this case removed dangerous narcotics from our streets and ensured the safety of a child who was placed in harm’s way. I commend their awareness, professionalism, and dedication to doing what’s right for Terrebonne Parish.”
ARRESTED PERSONS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.
