TPSO MAKES ARREST FOLLOWING ONGOING STALKING COMPLAINT

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a local man following an investigation into a series of incidents involving repeated unwanted contact, harassment, and violations of previously established boundaries.  Deputies arrested Damion M. Gonzalez, 43, on multiple charges, in connection with the incident.

On June 3, 2026, Deputies were called to the home of a victim and learned she was having ongoing problems with a male suspect that she was previously romantically involved with.  Since a breakup several months prior, the suspect has committed a pattern of behavior that included repeatedly contacting the victim after being blocked, attempting to communicate through the victim’s workplace, and returning to a residence from which he had previously been banned.  Authorities also obtained evidence indicating the suspect continued these actions, even after a prior arrest involving the same victim.

During the course of the investigation, Deputies gathered surveillance footage, recorded communications, witness statements, and other evidence supporting the allegations. Based on the totality of the investigation, arrest warrants were obtained for charges related to Stalking and Entering or Remaining on Property After Being Forbidden.

Authorities later located Gonzalez, who was taken into custody without incident, and transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex.  Gonzalez remains jailed on a $15,000.00 bond by local judges.

“Stalking behaviors should never be dismissed as harmless or insignificant,” said Sheriff Tim Soignet. “When an individual repeatedly ignores boundaries, continues unwanted contact, and refuses to comply with previous warnings or law enforcement intervention, the situation can quickly escalate and place victims in fear for their safety. The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office remains committed to investigating these cases thoroughly and taking appropriate action to protect those who may be at risk.”

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone experiencing harassment, stalking, or behavior that causes them to fear for their safety to report the activity immediately. Early intervention and documentation are often critical in preventing situations from escalating.
