Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Cracks Down on Business Burglary with Recent Arrest

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of three individuals, in connection with a recent business burglary complaint reported to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.  The TPSO Criminal Investigative Division arrested Russell Joseph Nelton Jr, 43, Chad Paul Trahan, 52, and Coty James White, 40, for felony charges in connection with the investigation.


On June 11th, 2025, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) Criminal Investigative Division learned of a burglary incident in Chauvin, which occurred at a local business. TPSO Investigators were assigned to the case and immediately discovered video surveillance footage associated with the incident, which pointed to three suspects being involved.  Employees of the business confirmed that a substantial amount of copper wire was stolen during the burglary.


Through further investigation, Investigators learned of information which led to the development of several suspects, along with evidence that began to surface in the case.  Investigators learned the TPSO Criminal Patrol Division received anonymous information from the public, who identified the three suspects linked to the burglary incident as Nelton, Trahan, and White.


On June 20th, Authorities located Coty James White, 40, who was brought in for questioning, and admitted to his involvement in the burglary.  White was arrested and jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on charges of Principal to Simple Burglary (Felony) and remains jailed on a $40,000 bond by local judges.   


Authorities later located and arrested Chad Paul Trahan, 52, who was arrested and jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on charges of Principal to Simple Burglary (Felony), and outstanding warrants unrelated to the investigations.  Trahan remains in custody on a $50,000 bond by local judges.


Russell Joseph Nelton Jr. 43, was located at a residence in the 100 block of Judith Street in Chauvin, where he was taken into custody.  Nelton was arrested and jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on charges of Principal to Simple Burglary (Felony) and remains in custody on a $50,000 bond by local judges.

 

Sheriff Tim Soignet would like to remind the public that this remains on ongoing investigation, and the likelihood of additional arrests are possible. 


Sheriff Tim Soignet is pleased with the outstanding work completed by the TPSO Criminal Investigative and Criminal Patrol Divisions in this investigation.  Sheriff Soignet said, “These types of cases have plagued our bayou communities, and I am extremely proud of the men and women of our agency who continuously go above and beyond to bring these offenders to justice. We will continue to do what is necessary to rid our community of criminal behavior.”

 

ALL ARRESTED PERSONS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY
