Montegut woman arrested for Burglary

NEWS RELEASE

May 1, 2023

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Montegut woman, in connection with a Burglary Investigation that occurred at a local Terrebonne Parish based business, over the weekend. Jade Nicole Lefort, 33, was arrested for multiple charges associated with the investigation.

On April 29, 2023, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) Patrol Division responded to a report of suspicious activity, at a business in the 100 block of Bourg Larose Highway. Patrol Deputies arrived and spoke with witnesses, who discovered evidence that the business appeared to be burglarized, causing damage to the building. Deputies verified the evidence at the scene, and also located a vehicle at the back of the business. As Deputies conducted a search of the business and surrounding area, they discovered a female who was hiding in a wooded area directly behind the business. The female was taken into custody and identified as Jade Lefort.

TPSO Deputies continued their investigation and were able to link Lefort to the investigation that occurred at the local business. A search of the vehicle at the scene led to the discovery of a weapon, which Deputies observed to have an obliterated serial number. An interview with Lefort was completed, where she admitted to her involvement and ownership of the weapon.

Lefort was arrested for charges of Simple Burglary and Possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, as well as additional unrelated charges. Lefort was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, where she is being held on a $51,700 total bond by local judges.

Sheriff Tim Soignet is pleased with the outstanding work completed by the TPSO Patrol in the apprehension of Lefort. Sheriff Tim Soignet said, “I’m very proud of the job completed by our Patrol Division, as well as the observant actions of the witnesses in this case. This is another example of what can be accomplished when Law Enforcement and the public work together.”
