Investigation into Child Sex Abuse Results in Arrest of Houma Man

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Schriever man in connection with an investigation conducted by the Special Victim’s Unit (SVU) of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO).  SVU Detectives arrested Leslie Paul Thibodaux, 61, on charges connected to the Terrebonne Parish investigation. 

On July 20, 2026, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division were called to investigate allegations of sexual abuse from a victim under the age of 13 years of age.  While speaking with the victim and parent, Deputies learned that the suspect is a relative, and he was identified as Leslie P. Thibodaux, 61, of Schriever.  The victim revealed information to Deputies that the suspect began touching her inappropriately as early as age 7 and has continued to present time.  The victim also confirmed that the abuse occurred at two separate addresses in Terrebonne Parish.

SVU Detectives were called to investigate the allegations, and met with the victim and parent, and confirmed details of the physical sexual abuse she endured at the hands of Thibodaux.  SVU Detectives documented forensic interviews that were completed with the victim, which again substantiated the disturbing details of the sexual abuse performed on her, by Thibodaux. 

At the culmination of the interviews, SVU Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Leslie P. Thibodaux, for the charge of Sexual Battery, through the 32^nd Judicial District Court.  On July 24, 2026, Thibodaux was brought in for questioning, where he denied committing the offenses.  SVU Detectives arrested Thibodaux on the outstanding warrant, and he later bonded out on a $150,000.00 bond set by local judges.  

Sheriff Tim Soignet confirmed this remains an ongoing investigation, and Detectives have not ruled out the likelihood of additional victims.

 “As always, we ask for patience and privacy for the victims and family”, said Sheriff Soignet.  “Our Detectives are working diligently to bring this case to resolution and hold this offender accountable for his actions.”
