Alert TPSO deputy takes drugs and a gun off the streets of Terrebonne

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Houma man, during a traffic stop by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division. Kentrevonta Jabari Howard, 29, was arrested for multiple felony related charges associated with the traffic stop investigation.


Shortly before noon on Thursday, a member of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division was conducting traffic enforcement operations in the area of Hollywood Road and La 24 West Park Ave, when a driver was seen in violation of a traffic related offense. During a traffic stop of the vehicle, Authorities discovered the driver to be in violation of additional driver related laws, in addition to a strong smell of a known narcotic coming from within the vehicle. Deputies identified the driver as Kentrevonta Jabari Howard, of Houma, who was detained in connection with the stop.


Investigative circumstances led Deputies to complete a search of the driver and vehicle, and located multiple forms of various illegal narcotics, along with a firearm within the vehicle. Deputies were able to recover close to 6 grams of suspected Crack-Cocaine, close to 74 grams of Heroin, over 100 grams of Marijuana, and close to 30 pills of various prescription and non-prescription medications, multiple items of Drug Paraphernalia, a loaded firearm, and close to $300 dollars in cash. Deputies determined that the illegal narcotics located were packaged in a manner that is consistent with street level sales.


As the investigation continued, Agents were able to determine that Howard is a Convicted Felon with three outstanding felony drug related warrants through Lafourche Parish.

Kentrevonta J. Howard was arrested on charges of Illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a CDS, Misrepresentation during booking, Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Possession with the intent to distribute Heroin, Possession with the intent to distribute a CDS II (3 counts), Possession with the intent to distribute a legend drug, Possession with the intent to distribute Marijuana, Possession of drug paraphernalia, Resisting an officer, transactions involving proceeds from a drug offenses, Seatbelt use, Driving under suspension, and a vehicle insurance violation. Additionally, Howard was arrested for three outstanding felony drug related charges through the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.


Howard was later transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex where he was booked on the charges and remains jailed on a $216,500 total bond by local judges.


Sheriff Tim Soignet would like to praise the outstanding efforts of the TPSO Patrol Division, for their proactive response and thorough investigation. Sheriff Tim Soignet said, “This is a great example of what can be uncovered from a seemingly ordinary traffic related stop. Our Deputies were extremely observant and reacted in a swift and safe manner to stop a potentially dangerous situation from getting out of hand. We will always do what is necessary to bring these offenders to justice.”
