Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Waggaman couple in connection with a series of Organized Retail Thefts committed in Terrebonne Parish. Deputies arrested Tiara Marie Chaisson, 28, and Jason Paul Garrett, 31, both of Waggaman, in connection with the investigation.
On October 13th, shortly before 11:00 a.m., the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) Patrol Division was alerted to an incident taking place at Sam’s Club in Houma, where a male and female suspect reportedly departed the store after committing a theft. Deputies were advised that the pair concealed several large packs of meat products within a large bag before leaving the store without payment.
Deputies in the surrounding area were provided with detailed descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle. A short time later, the vehicle was located at a nearby convenience store, and when Deputies approached, they immediately observed items inside consistent with the concealment and storage of raw meat products. The occupants were identified as Tiara Marie Chaisson and Jason Paul Garrett, both of Waggaman, who were detained in connection with the investigation.
As the investigation progressed, Deputies determined that Chaisson and Garrett were responsible for a series of Organized Retail Thefts that occurred on at least five previous occasions at the Houma Sam’s Club over the past 30 days, totaling approximately $4,000 in stolen merchandise. Further evidence also indicated that the suspects are connected to a growing number of thefts targeting Sam’s Club locations spanning from Alexandria, Louisiana, to Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Tiara Marie Chaisson was arrested and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on six counts of Organized Retail Theft, with bond set at $40,000 by local judges.
Jason Paul Garrett was arrested and booked on six counts of Organized Retail Theft, with bond set at $40,000 by local judges.
This remains an ongoing investigation, and additional charges are highly likely.
Sheriff Tim Soignet praised the outstanding work of the TPSO Patrol Division, stating, “I am extremely proud of the men and women of our agency who continuously go above and beyond to bring offenders to justice. This incident is a great example of what can be accomplished when law enforcement officers work relentlessly to seek justice. We will continue to do what is necessary to protect our community from criminal activity.”
