September 8, 2025

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Houma man following a disturbance investigated by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division. Brandon Adams Duplantis, 46, was arrested on charges in connection with the incident.

On September 6, shortly after midnight, Deputies with the Patrol Division responded to a residence on Douglas Drive regarding a disturbance involving a knife. Upon arrival, Authorities spoke with witnesses who reported a physical altercation between two male subjects, which resulted in one individual sustaining a serious injury from a knife attack.  The suspect, identified as Brandon Adams Duplantis, fled the scene on a bicycle prior to Deputies’ arrival. Witnesses also advised that the injured male departed the area before Deputies made contact.

Through continued investigation, Deputies located Duplantis at his residence, where he was found still in possession of the knife used during the incident. Duplantis was taken into custody and questioned, during which he admitted involvement in the fight but claimed the knife injury was accidental.

Deputies arrested Duplantis on charges of Aggravated Second-Degree Battery. He was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, where he remains jailed on a $25,000 bond set by local judges.

Deputies later located the victim at a local hospital, where he was receiving treatment for a serious open wound caused by the attack. The victim, whose identity is not being released at this time, is listed in stable condition.

Sheriff Tim Soignet would like to commend the quick response of the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, which directly affected the apprehension of this offender.  Sheriff Soignet said, “Our Deputies do an incredible job when dealing with the dangers of their day-to-day encounters.  I can’t say enough about how amazing our men and women are, and the level of safety they provide for our community.”
