Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet is very pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Suggs, current Lieutenant with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, to Assistant Supervisor of the School Resource Officer (SRO) Division.


Lt. Michael Suggs will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of approximately 10 crossing guards, which operate throughout Terrebonne Parish, and well as to serve and complete patrols of all schools within Terrebonne Parish, not yet serviced by an assigned SRO.


Lt. Michael Suggs is a 24-year veteran of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office. During his tour, Lt. Suggs began his employment as a Correctional Officer before being transferred to the patrol division. Lt. Michael Suggs was then transferred to the SRO Division in 2000, where he has worked for the last 22 years. Lt. Suggs achieved the rank of Sgt, while serving as an SRO, and was later transferred to Evergreen Jr. High School in 2005, where he has served for 17 years. Michael Suggs was promoted to the rank of Lt., in March of 2022, and was assigned his new position for the upcoming school year.


Sheriff Tim Soignet said, “Lt. Suggs had dedicated his career to mentoring and protecting students of our community and had done an excellent job. He will serve this community well in his new position.”
