Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Cleveland, Ms. man in connection with a collaborative investigation conducted by the Special Victim’s Unit (SVU) of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO), the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), the US Marshall’s Task Force, and the Cleveland MS Police Department. Authorities in Cleveland, MS took Joshua Jackson, 22, into custody on February 2nd, for outstanding arrest warrants based on the Terrebonne Parish investigation.
In January of 2026, the TPSO SVU began an investigation after learning of inappropriate text message conversations that were occurring between a 12-year-old female, and what was believed to be a much older man. SVU Detectives met with a parent of the 12-year-old victim and learned that social media and text messages began with a male suspect in November of 2025 and continued to the present time.
Through further investigation, SVU Detectives were able to substantiate that pornographic images were exchanged between the victim and suspect, as well as evidence to support that the suspect was financially extorting the juvenile, as it related to the pornographic images. Detectives also located additional digital evidence, which linked the suspect to indecent behavior with the juvenile victim.
SVU Detectives seized a significant amount of digital evidence, which linked a male suspect to the investigation. That evidence also assisted Detectives in confirming the identity of the male suspect as Joshua Jackson, 22, of Cleveland, MS. SVU Detectives then secured an arrest warrant for Jackson, for the charges of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile, Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor, Pornography Involving Juveniles under 13 (3 counts), and Extortion.
SVU Detectives then coordinated with Authorities from Cleveland, MS, who took Jackson into custody on February 2nd. SVU Detectives then completed the necessary process for Jackson’s extradition to Terrebonne Parish, to face charges. Joshua Jackson is currently in custody in Terrebonne Parish and remains jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on a $400,000.00 bond by local judges.
Due to the sensitive nature of the case and ongoing investigative efforts, the identities of the victims are being withheld.
Sheriff Tim Soignet confirmed this is an ongoing investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming. Sheriff Soignet said, “As always, we ask for patience and privacy for the victims and family. Our Detectives are working diligently to bring this case to resolution and hold a dangerous offender accountable. I would also like to extend our appreciation to the Cleveland, MS Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.”
ALL ARRESTED PERSONS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY
