Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Houma man in connection with an ongoing investigation conducted by the Special Victim’s Unit (SVU) of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office. SVU Detectives arrested James Bogen Jr., 56, on four counts of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile, following a detailed investigation into allegations of sexual abuse.
In September 2025, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to a local high school after receiving a report of possible sexual abuse involving a student. Patrol Deputies met with the victim, who provided specific and credible details describing multiple incidents of abuse that occurred over several months. The case was immediately turned over to SVU Detectives for further investigation.
During the course of their investigation, SVU Detectives obtained substantial evidence corroborating the victim’s account. Detectives also identified a second victim, who independently came forward with information implicating Bogen and provided additional details of sexual misconduct. Detectives believe that there may be additional victims and are continuing to pursue all leads.
On October 20, 2025, shortly after 2:00 p.m., TPSO Patrol Deputies located James Bogen Jr., who was taken into custody without incident. Bogen was subsequently booked on four counts of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile and remains jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on a $200,000 bond, set by local judges.
Due to the sensitive nature of the case and ongoing investigative efforts, the identities of the victims are being withheld.
Sheriff Tim Soignet confirmed this is an ongoing investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming. Sheriff Soignet said, “As always, we ask for patience and privacy for the victims and family. Our Detectives are working diligently to bring this case to resolution and hold a dangerous offender accountable.”
ALL ARRESTED PERSONS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY
