TPSO arrest 2 in Copper Theft Case

Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrests of two Montegut residents for Felony Theft of copper wire.

Sheriff Soignet advised that TPSO Water patrol agents received an anonymous tip that Brad Rodriguez (33 years of age residing at 104 Mimosa Ln Montegut, LA) and Kaleb Pellegrin (26 years of age residing at 109 Royal St Montegut, LA) were actively stealing copper wire from an oil rig in a local waterway.

TPSO Water Patrol and Narcotics agents were working on an off-duty detail patrolling for this type of situation and received the assistance of Detectives and Uniformed Patrol. TPSO Water Patrol Agents were able to locate the two in a small boat loaded with several pounds of stolen copper wire. The two were taken into custody and the wire was recovered. TPSO detectives are continuing to follow up on this investigation.

Brad Rodriguez was arrested for one count of Felony Theft as well as outstanding warrants for Simple Burglary and four counts of Failure to Appear. Kaleb Pellegrin was arrested for one count of Felony Theft as well as outstanding arrest warrants for five counts of Failure to Appear. Bonds have not been set as of the time of this press release.

Sheriff Soignet would like to stress the importance of cooperation with residents. “This incident shows a fine example of how TPSO Water Patrol Agents having a relationship with the community pays off.”
