Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a runaway juvenile, identified as 15-year-old Malayla Janaye Fitch, of Gray. Deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division were called to a residence, after family members reported that Fitch had left the home without permission. Deputies conducted an initial search of the area but were unable to locate her.
The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit (SVU) has since assumed the investigation and is actively working to determine Fitch’s whereabouts. At this time, her location remains unknown.
Fitch is described as approximately 5’5” tall, weighing around 180 pounds. She currently has red-colored hair and was last seen wearing black pants, a long-sleeved white shirt, and a bonnet on her head.
Earlier in the day, Deputies responded to the same residence regarding a disturbance, in which Fitch was reported to have been seen in the driveway with an unknown black male who was driving a red sedan-type vehicle.
Sheriff Tim Soignet asks the community to remain vigilant and report any information that could assist in safely locating the juvenile. “Our primary concern is ensuring the safety and well-being of this young girl,” Sheriff Soignet said. “We are asking anyone who may have seen her or knows where she may be to please contact us immediately.”
Fitch has been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as a missing person.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Malayla Janaye Fitch is urged to contact the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 876-2500 or simply dial 911.
