Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of Ronald Joseph Armond Jr., 31, of Morgan City, following a residential burglary complaint reported Thursday afternoon in the Exeter Run area.
Shortly before 4:00 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence on Exeter Run after a homeowner returned to find an unknown male suspect on his property. The homeowner provided deputies with a description of the individual, who fled the area on foot. Upon further inspection of the residence, the homeowner discovered clear evidence indicating the suspect had entered the home and committed a theft.
A short time later, members of the TPSO Criminal Patrol Division arrived in the area and located a male matching the provided description near the intersection of Exeter Run and LA Hwy 311. Deputies identified the suspect as Ronald Joseph Armond Jr. During a search conducted incident to the investigation, deputies found Armond in possession of a backpack containing multiple items believed to be stolen from the residence. The homeowner was contacted and positively identified the items as those taken from inside the home.
Deputies questioned Armond regarding the property. Although he initially denied involvement, he later admitted to entering the home and committing the theft. During the investigation, authorities also learned that Armond was wanted in connection with an unrelated active arrest warrant out of Assumption Parish.
Armond was arrested on charges of Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling, along with the outstanding arrest warrant. He was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, where he remains jailed on a $50,000 bond set by local judges.
“The rapid response of our patrol deputies and the detailed information provided by the homeowner made all the difference in bringing this case to a swift resolution”, Sheriff Soignet said. “We remain committed to protecting our neighborhoods and ensuring those who violate the safety of our residents are held accountable.”
