Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Gray man following an investigation conducted by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division.  Jonah Michael Dupre, 18, of Gray, was arrested on charges of Battery of a Dating Partner, Improper Telephone Communications, Nonconsensual Disclosure of a Private Image, and Extortion in connection with the investigation.

On March 2, 2026, Deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to a residence after a third party reported that an explicit photograph of the victim had been shared on a social media-based application by Dupre.   Upon arrival, Deputies learned that the victim and Dupre had recently ended a brief romantic relationship.  During the initial investigation, Deputies were advised that the complainant observed the explicit images posted on social media and immediately notified the victim.   Authorities later confirmed the images were distributed by Dupre without the victim’s consent.

Further interviews with the victim revealed that Dupre had allegedly been physically aggressive with her during a prior public incident that had not initially been reported due to fear.  During the course of the investigation, Deputies also uncovered evidence indicating that Dupre allegedly used the explicit images in an attempt to extort the victim for continued sexual relations. When the victim refused Dupre’s demands, the images were allegedly posted to social media.  Deputies gathered substantial evidence supporting the allegations during the investigation.

With assistance from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, Deputies located Dupre and transported him for questioning.  During the interview, Dupre admitted to posting the explicit images on social media but denied intending to harm the victim.  At the conclusion of the interview, Dupre was placed under arrest and transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, where he remains jailed on a $30,000 bond set by a local judge.

This investigation remains ongoing, and Detectives are expected to pursue additional investigative measures, including search warrants, to determine whether further evidence exists.

Sheriff Tim Soignet emphasized the importance of protecting victims and addressing crimes involving the misuse of digital platforms.  “Unfortunately, cases involving the misuse of social media and the exploitation of private images have become increasingly common,” said Sheriff Soignet. “The actions alleged in this case are deeply troubling and can have lasting emotional and personal consequences for victims.  Our agency will continue to take these cases seriously and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.”

Due to the circumstance connected to this investigation, the victim’s identity is being withheld.  Authorities ask that the privacy of the victim and those affected by this investigation be respected.
