FORMER STUDENT ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF A FIREARM ON CAMPUS

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of Schriever man in connection with a Terrorizing complaint that was investigated by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office School Resource Division.
On January 22nd, shortly after 11:00am, the TPSO SRO Division assigned to HL Bourgeois High School, were made aware of an incident where a former student was believed to have been on campus with a firearm, that was posted to a social media outlet. The social media post was reported anonymously by a current student that saw the video and reported the information to school officials. The HL Bourgeois High School SRO became involved in the investigation, along with representatives of the Terrebonne Parish School Board.
As the investigation continued, the sender of the original message was confirmed and identified as a current HL Bourgeois student, who was determined to be a juvenile, who was taken into custody by the Houma Police Department, who was assisting with the investigation. The juvenile suspect was later transported to the TPSO for questioning, which resulted in his arrest for the charge of Terrorizing.
Further investigation revealed the identity of the former student as Rayden Jon Guidry, 17, of Schriever. SRO Deputies were able to determine that Guidry did have a legitimate purpose for being on campus, despite the possession of the firearm. A short time later, Deputies located Guidry at his home, where he was taken into custody on charges of Carrying of a Dangerous Weapon by a Student/Nonstudent at a School, and Terrorizing. A search of his home revealed the discovery of the firearm that was confirmed to be the same firearm in the social media video. Rayden Jon Guidry was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, where he remains jailed on a $25,000 bond by local judges.
Sheriff Tim Soignet would like to remind the public that due to age restrictions; the juvenile’s identity is not being released in connection with the investigation.
Sheriff Tim Soignet would like to commend the TPSO SRO Division for the swift and safe apprehension of the suspect, as well as the Houma Police Department for their assistance in this incident. Sheriff Soignet said, “These types are cases are extremely disturbing, and certainly call for quick action. There are still many questions to be answered in this investigation, and I ask for patience as our office continues to work through this incident. I would like to take an opportunity to applaud the efforts of all the divisions of our parish that were involved in bringing this incident to a safe resolution.”
