Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of five individuals in connection with an Armed Robbery incident that occurred at a local park in the Village East neighborhood.  Authorities arrested Christopher Darnell McClendon, 20; Christian Anthony Perry, 22, of Marrero; Warnet Asaysha Jasper, 18; Jason Lynn Hughes, 20; and Jaylasia Janae’ Johnson, 19, of Thibodaux, on charges of Armed Robbery in connection with the investigation.

On Tuesday, October 7th, shortly after 11:00 p.m., Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division deputies were dispatched to the area of Friendswood Drive after reports of a disturbance involving a firearm. When deputies arrived, they learned that several suspects fled the scene in a vehicle that was quickly identified by responding units.  Deputies located the vehicle in the 9200 block of East Main Street, where a traffic stop was conducted, and five individuals were detained.

While deputies were investigating the stop, the Sheriff’s Office received additional information from a caller who identified a male victim suffering from serious injuries at a nearby home. Deputies responded to the residence, located the victim, and requested medical assistance. The victim reported that he had been taken to the park by two females, where he was beaten and robbed by at least two male suspects.  His statements, combined with evidence gathered by deputies, linked the individuals inside the stopped vehicle to the crime.  Due to the severity of his injuries, the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

As the investigation continued, Deputies learned that the victim was lured and transported to the park by Jasper and Johnson, who conspired with McClendon and Perry to carry out the robbery. When they arrived, McClendon and Perry allegedly approached the victim, striking him in the face and body with what is believed to be a handgun.  Evidence also revealed that while the victim was on the ground, McClendon stole property from the victim’s body.

Based on the evidence and information obtained, all five suspects were taken in for questioning and later arrested.  Deputies also recovered key evidence from the vehicle that corroborated the victim’s account of events.

Christopher Darnell McClendon was arrested for Armed Robbery, unrelated warrants, and remains jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on a $501,500.00 bond.

Christian Anthony Perry was arrested for Armed Robbery, unrelated warrants, and remains jailed on a $250,748.00 bond.

Warnet Asaysha Jasper was arrested for Armed Robbery and remains jailed on a $150,000.00 bond.

Jason Lynn Hughes was arrested for Armed Robbery and remains jailed on a $125,000.00 bond.

Jaylasia Janae’ Johnson was arrested for Armed Robbery and remains jailed on a $5,000.00 bond.

The victim was later transferred to an out-of-area hospital for additional treatment and is listed in stable condition. The victim’s identity is being withheld at this time.

Sheriff Soignet stated, “As we all know, these types of cases are extremely difficult for the victim, family, and everyone involved. As always, I ask for patience and peace as we complete this unfortunate investigation. I want to commend the outstanding work of our Patrol Division, whose quick actions and determination helped bring this case to a successful resolution. Our parish is a safer place because of the work they do every day.”
