Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Jeremy J. Woods, 41, of Houma, in connection with a Domestic Violence and Stalking investigation, involving the violation of a protective order.
On January 5, 2026, shortly after 9:00am, Deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division were called to a residence on Baker Drive in response to a report of ongoing contact in violation of a protective order. When Deputies arrived, they made contact with a victim, who was granted a protective order against her ex-boyfriend, Jeremy J. Woods, in November of 2025.
The victim reported that despite the court order issued, Woods repeatedly contacted her through phone calls, text messages, and videos. Deputies confirmed video and message evidence of the unwanted contact, including explicit content. Deputies learned that the victim stated had not responded to any messages and expressed fear for her safety and the safety of her children, citing multiple instances in which Woods appeared to be following or monitoring her movements at public locations.
Deputies secured the evidence and made contact with Woods a short time later, at his residence on Myrtle Street. Woods was observed outside the home when Deputies arrived, and as they attempted to speak with him, Woods attempted to flee into the residence. As Deputies attempted to detain him, Woods actively resisted, which led to a brief struggle. Woods was ultimately taken into custody, without further incident.
Deputies arrested and transported Woods to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex. After the transport, Deputies located suspected narcotics-related evidence, as well as drug paraphernalia which was located on his person by Corrections Staff. Woods was booked on charges of Violation of a Protective Order, Resisting an Officer, a Failure to Appear warrant (Related to Unlawful Communication), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and remains jailed on a $6,500.00 bond by local judges.
“Protective Orders are put in place to safeguard victims and their families, and any violation of those orders will be taken very seriously”, Sheriff Soignet said. “Stalking and Domestic Violence are dangerous behaviors that often escalate, and we will act swiftly to hold offenders accountable and protect those who are living in fear.”
Sheriff Soignet encouraged anyone experiencing domestic violence or stalking to report it immediately and to preserve any evidence of unwanted contact. All incidents are thoroughly investigated, and victim safety remains a top priority for the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.
This investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are likely pending results of laboratory analysis for the narcotics evidence seized during this investigation.
ARRESTED PERSONS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.
